    Summary

    Step into the real
lost world of Beringia and wander its icy tundra to meet long-extinct giants as
    they come to life again!

    Long ago, when the Earth
was very cold, Asia and North America were connected by a frozen land bridge.
This bridge was called Beringia and was home to giant animals—from the scimitar
cat to the short-faced bear, and more. Watch for the lumbering woolly mammoth,
one of the biggest mammals living in Beringia. See the sleeping giant ground
sloth, which can be as big as an elephant. In the waters, you might even spy
the powerful giant beaver, whose front teeth are as big as bananas! What other
animals once lived in Beringia? And where did they and the land bridge go?

    Filled with colorful
illustrations and interesting facts, Where Giants Roamed makes
history come alive as you travel back to a time when these amazing creatures
walked the planet. Also included is a map of Beringia plus a glossary of terms from the
    book.
