This twin set of volumes is an attempt to capture numerous voices among those in the ACS who have built award-winning Student Member Chapters, as well as those who have kept them going, in some cases for decades. Volume 2 focuses on specific program areas and strengths of individual member chapters.

About the author










Matthew Mio is a Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. His research focuses on new transition metal catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. Mio holds a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was awarded a Mellon Fellowship to perform postdoctoral research and teaching at Macalester College (St. Paul, MN). Mio
joined Detroit Mercy's faculty in 2002.

Mark Benvenuto is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Detroit Mercy, in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and a Fellow of the American Chemical Society. He has also been an advisor to the UDM ACS Student Members Chapter for many years. Benvenuto received a B.S. in chemistry from the Virginia Military Institute and, after several years in the Army, a PhD. in inorganic chemistry from the University of Virginia. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Pennsylvania State
University, he joined the faculty at the University of Detroit Mercy in 1993.
