About the author

Victor R. Shinde has more than 17 years of experience as a scientist and technical expert (water and environment) in nine countries in Asia and Africa. His areas of expertise include urban river management, integrated water resources management, and water security enhancement. He has led the development of several national-level tools, framework,
guidelines, and advisories for managing urban rivers.Rajiv Ranjan Mishra is a former Director General of the National Mission for Clean Ganga—an ambitious flagship by the Indian government with projects worth USD 3.73 billion. In that position, he drove the strategy and agenda for the mission in the most populous basin in the world for effective abatement of pollution, conservation, and rejuvenation of the River Ganges and its tributaries.Uday Bhonde has more than 18 years of research and practical experience in urban lake management, water resilient cities, innovations in urban water and sanitation and hygiene, and urban flood resilience. He has developed several capacity building programs on sustainable urban water and sanitation management for the Ministry of Urban Development (India)and other international organizations.Hitesh Vaidya has more than 20 years of experience in the field of urban management, urban governance, and capacity building. He has been associated in the areas of urban development, urban governance, and urban infrastructure management with the UN, World Bank, and US Agency for International Development assignments. Formerly, he was the Country Representative of UN-Habitat in India.
