The book contains four previously untranslated plays written by Hans Sachs, a playwright, shoemaker, and important supporter of Martin Luther. Sachs' well-known poem "The Wittenberg Nightingale" is also included here in a new translation and the collection will be a boon for researchers and students who can now read them for the first time.

About the author










Annis N. Shaver is Professor of German and Linguistics at Cedarville University. Among other activities she sponsors the German Club and coordinates the TESOL certificate program. She has presented at numerous professional conferences, including the American Educational Research Association (AERA), Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and The History of Education Society (HES). She has published widely, including in Die Unterrichtspraxis/Teaching German, The Journal of Research in Science Teaching, and Journal of Teaching and Teacher Education.
