For the past several years, evidence has been accumulating that the human body depends on hundreds of different food compounds to keep its immune system at maximum strength. These phytochemicals (phyto comes from the Greek word for "plant") protect us from cancer and heart disease, as well as from other degenerative diseases that ordinarily creep up on us as our immune systems grow weaker with age. Why the Tri-Color Diet? Because the most important preventive phytochemicals give foods their distinctive colors - such as red, yellow/orange, and green. Each slice of tomato, spoonful of cantaloupe, or bite of leafy, green vegetable plays a different role in neutralizing harmful substances before they can attack your body cells. Dr. Martin Katahn, who revolutionalized the science of weight loss with his T-Factor Diet, shows us how to recognize the essential phytochemicals and understand how they work together. (The interaction is essential: you do not get the benefits from any supplement or pill). He gives us over 100 delicious recipes to ensure that eating "right" tastes just as good as eating "wrong" ever did. Finally, he shows how diet can be combined for maximum effectiveness with exercise, to increase energy and reduce stress.
