In spite of the legal framework, the Cameroonian justice system presents aspects that justify concern about its conformity with the principles of fair trial. These aspects are sometimes the result of the law, sometimes the result of misguided practices. The Code of Criminal Procedure that came into force on January 1, 2007 was the swallow that could have made the spring. The launch of trials with political overtones, including those of Operation Sparrowhawk, was an opportunity to put words into action. It is clear that there is still a long way to go from the cup to the lips.
