Myrtle is a turtle who passes the day by swimming the oceans and seas. One day she becomes entangled and soon finds herself with a plastic bag stuck fast around her neck.
Continuing upon her way she comes across a hermit crab who has a problem of his own: he has a rusty old can for a home instead of a shell, but he can't get rid of it as he has one of his antenna stuck fast.
Together they venture to find a way to fix their misery, along the way helping other creatures gain their freedom from the rubbish people have discarded.
In total there are 32 full-colour pictures.
The story is written in rhyme and told over 64 [four-line] verses.
