Precision attachments in dentistry is a means of bodily function for a removable bridge or partial dentures. Precision attachments offer considerable advantages because of their flexibility. The last decade has seen the public become better informed and hence, a dental surgeon who familiarizes himself with precision attachments will add a new dimension to his treatment options. They have been ignored in the past largely due to notable cost and an inadequate grasp of their application. Precision attachments are sometimes said to be a connecting link between the fixed and removable type of partial dentures because it incorporates features common to both types of construction. An attachment is a connector consisting of two or more parts. One part is connected to a root, tooth or implant and the other part to prosthesis. There are certain exceptions as some attachments have only one manufactured part and the other part must be made by the dentist or dental technician.
