Vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) are used as a light source in short-length optical communication systems. They are also used in optical networks node interconnection and optical computing. Due to VCSEL's cavity is small volume mode spacing increases and single mode is generally generated from it. They can also be best suitable for single mode fiber optical transmissions. We have analyzed the performance of VCSEL laser by varying different physical parameters like Temperature, cavity volume and bias current. It is observed that with the increase of temperature, Quality of the system decreases. It is suggested that low cavity volume mitigate or overcome the effects of temperature on output power. Further comparison of VCSEL and Continuous Wave laser is also done where VCSEL shows better results and further investigation is done on VCSEL.
