Betel leaves powder extracts were successfully isolated and showed positive antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of these crude extracts varied with different solvents. All the crude extracts (excluded distilled water extract) showed increasing antioxidant activity when the concentration increased. Methanol crude extract showed the highest antioxidant activity which was 94.11 % compared to hexane extract and ethyl acetate extract which were 91.83 % and 93.73 % respectively. The IC50 value of methanol and ethyl acetate crude extract were unable to determine due to their high percentage of inhibition. Hexane crude extract showed an IC50 value of 427.79µg/ml. F15 fraction showed positive but low antioxidant activity and the activity increased when the concentrations increased. Percentage of inhibition of F15 fraction was 4.83% at concentration of 1000 µg/ml. The IC50 value of F15 fraction was 18965.84µg/ml. The lower the IC50 indicates higher antioxidant activity because lower amount is needed to inhibit the free radical activity by half. The antioxidant activity of F15 fraction was lower compared to crude extract.
