The quality approach according to the ISO 9001 standard has given a new place to the process nurse as a key player in quality management. This comparative study of multiple cases at the CHU-BC and the PCIO in Burkina Faso, whose objective was to study the managerial role of the IPP, showed that this role is multidimensional. The role is interpersonal, informational, decision-making and continuous improvement. In addition, the role of promoter of the quality culture, trainer of personnel and trainee supervisor is also included. The only difference is that at the CHU-BC level, PPIs play a role in research. In conclusion, the managerial role of the IPP is almost the same in the public health sector as it is in the private sector, and is of capital importance for the management of the quality of care.
