About the author

Ian Macgregor Morris is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Salzburg. He has published extensively on Achaemenid Persia, Sparta and the classical tradition. He is working on a study of the Persian king Xerxes, is editing Brill’s Companion to the Spartan Tradition and recently served as consultant on TV’s Unearthed: Finding Sparta’s 300.  

Jake Jackson has written, edited and contributed to over 20 books on mythology and folklore. Related works include studies of Babylonian creation myths, the philosophy of time and William Blake's use of mythology in his visionary literature.
