About the author

Lize Spit gained a master’s degree in screenwriting and has also written prose and poetry, published in several magazines. In 2013 she won both the Jury Prize and the Readers’ Prize at WriteNow!, a prestigious writing competition. Her debut novel The Melting was published to widespread acclaim, became an instant bestseller and has been sold in ten languages. She lives in Brussels.Kristen Gehrman is a literary translator from Dutch to English. Originally from South Carolina, she studied linguistics and literary translation at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and now lives in The Hague, The Netherlands, with her Dutch husband. Recent book translations include The Boy Between Worlds by Annejet van der Zijl, The Son and Heir by Alexander Münninghoff and The Tree and the Vine by Dola de Jong. In addition to her work as a translator, she teaches university courses in translation and writing.
