A pollen analysis was carried out on samples of honey coming from the 3 sites in the commune of Andevoranto where both traditional and modern beekeeping are practiced, and it is noted that there is no remarkable specificity which distinguishes the honey of Andevoranto according to the site, but rather depending on the period of flowering of the melliferous plants. At present, the dominance of honey gathering in the forest by the peasants and the modes of breeding of the beekeepers in Andevoranto make that the beekeeping is still primitive there. The uses of honey, the neglect of wax, their rites and beliefs on the bees and the beekeeping let to confirm the traditional state of this activity in the commune. Melliferous plants known by the farmers and identified by the pollen analysis allowed us to estimate the importance of some plants for beekeeping. This gives us an idea on the silvicultural measures to be recommended.
