Ce recueil, composé de 12 "Sonates" pour violoncelle seul, fut publié en 1691. Leur style est voisin de celui des 12 "Ricercate" de Giovanni Battista Degli Antoni, publié en 1687, et des "Ricercari" de Domenico Gabrieli, datant de1689. Il reste assez ambigu, à la limite entre modalité et tonalité.Il est présenté ici dans une transcription pour alto.

About the author

Domenico Galli fut violoncelliste et compositeur, mais également luthier. Il vécut à Parme de 1649 environ à 1697.
Violoncelliste à la cour de Modène, il dédia ce recueil à François II Duc de Modène et Reggio.
