In this work of nonfiction, Vernon Lee defends the principles of Aestheticism, a movement in art and art criticism which sought to emphasize the beautiful rather than moral applications of human creativity. Lyrical and personal, these essays are essential to her body of work. Laurus Nobilis: Chapters on Art and Life is a collection of essays by Vernon Lee.
