Wind energy utilisation is mushrooming all over the world and in the very near future no electrical engineer can avoid being involved in some way or another in WECS. This book presents a toolkit for early career researcher and also for electrical engineer. The toolkit includes a collection of clearly presented methods and models for whole cycle of wind energy utilisation starting from assessing the wind energy potential at a site up to determining the benefit of utilising WECS in tangible economical and technical figures.Inside the toolkit, the reader will find statistical modelling of wind speed data at a site a new probability distribution function that is more accurate than the commonly used distributions. Also, a tool for WECS/site pairing via determining the optimum tower height is presented and verified. An elegant representation of wind speed and power dynamics by Markov state model is also there with interesting applications; determining the required storage capacity to give the WECS a capacity credit and considering the dependence of WECS failure rate on wind speed in reliability evaluation. Optimum design of standalone Wind/Diesel hybrid system is also presented.
