The book describes the results of long-term studies on the effect of natural feeding on sterlet productivity during rearing in ponds and artificial feeding on sterlet productivity during rearing in cages established on the Volga River in the 4th fish breeding zone of the Russian Federation. Dynamics of live weight, average daily gain, survival rate and quality of fish production in sterlet rearing under different conditions were studied. Costs and value of artificial feeds per unit of sterlet weight gain are determined. The economic substantiation of artificial mixed fodder use in sterlet breeding is given. A new technology for sterlet rearing in cages that reduces rearing period from 4 to 2 years is described. At the same time, the safety of young fish increases by 4-5% and the yield of fish production from a unit area of the reservoir to 45 kg/m2. The book is intended for specialists, scientists and students of agricultural specialties.
