About the author

Katherine has been teaching for 21 years and is passionate about engaging children in their own learning. She also works as an education consultant, presenting her work at conferences and universities, and provides both online training and consultancy for schools in the UK. She regularly blogs and shares her ideas at www.everychildalearner.com, on Twitter @everychilda and on Instagram 'everychilda'.Steve Oakes has 20 years' teaching experience as a classroom teacher and head of faculty. He was the assistant director of sixth form at The Blue Coat School for eight years, a twice Ofsted-outstanding comprehensive sixth form where student progress is among the top 10 per cent in the country. He spent much of his time there supporting pupils academic and personal development and testing tools for character development. He has been the director of education for AQR international, a highly innovative psychometric test publisher, where he worked with Professor Peter Clough investigating the impact of mental toughness on young people. He is currently the director of VESPA Mindset and in the last four years he has worked with over 200 schools in the UK, UAE, Singapore, India, Portugal, Qatar and Thailand. He is the co-author of The A Level Mindset (2016) and The GCSE Mindset (2017) and The Student Mindset (2019).
