She holds a B.S. degree in Health and Physical Education in grades K-12. She also hold a specialty certificate in children's fitness. Colleen also was the facilitator in assessing Kindergarten readiness in motor skills for 34 years.

She has been married to her husband Chris for 34 years, has 2 grown children, and 3 grandchildren. She enjoys reading, yoga, golf, boxing, and walking her dog in her free time.
