Tomando como hilo conductor el concepto de identidad nacional, La canción artística latinoamericana, tiene como objetivo dilucidar las transformaciones sonoras que han tomado lugar en el mundo de la canción artística latinoamericana desde su aparición a finales del siglo XIX hasta nuestros días.
Por su doble naturaleza verbal-musical, la canción ha contribuido de manera evidente a la construcción de un sonido y una estética nacionales, convirtiéndose en espejo en el que se reflejan de manera fiel los procesos de construcción de identidad nacional latinoamericana.
La autora analiza el desarrollo de la canción artística en diversos puntos de latinoamericana y culmina con una capítulo a analizar y proponer un estilo de interpretación coherente con el contexto de creación de las obras.
About the author
Patricia Caicedo is an artist-scholar specializing in Latin American and Iberian art songs. With eleven albums and numerous scholarly editions of scores and books, including The Latin American Art Song: Sounds of the Imagined Nations, she is a leading authority in the field. Patricia founded and directs the Barcelona Festival of Song, a renowned summer program exploring the history and interpretation of this repertoire.Additionally, Patricia is the editor of the Latin American and Spanish Vocal Music Collection, a growing series with 15 titles focused on art songs in Spanish, Catalan, and Portuguese.
