About the author

Dr Charulatha Mani is a well-established vocal performer/researcher with expertise in Karnatik music of South India. She received her Ph.D. in 2019 from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia on intercultural intersections between seventeenth century Italian Opera and Karnatik Music. She loves to challenge boundaries of convention and is an active scholar-pedagogue in the fields of historical musicology and ethnomusicology, artistic research, and voice studies.
