Drugs and substance abuse is the use of substances in a maladaptive manner leading to significant health status impairment, distress or failure to meet personal's responsibilities. It manifests with recurrent and repeated use of substances resulting in adverse health and psychosocial consequences. The book entails factors predisposing to drugs and substance abuse based on a descriptive cross-sectional study done in Gachie, Kiambu County, Kenya carried out in 2017. The study population included residents of Gachie village, Kiambu County, Kenya, aged between 19-35 years. Peer pressure was the leading causative factor in this menace. The majority of respondents agreed that their friends influenced them to take drugs while those who did not succumb to peer pressure were isolated from the existing peer groups and had to create new relations with other people for purpose of social esteem.
