Formé à l'Ecole Boulle et influencé par Le Corbusier, l'architecte Henri Quillé (1928-2020) s'installe à Formentera en 1972. Il y réalise une trentaine de maisons pour lesquelles il puise dans les savoir-faire locaux, construisant notamment une dizaine d'habitations autosuffisantes. Pour les meubler, il dessine du mobilier qu'il fait réaliser sur place.
