Additional text

"Sprague and Walker have produced a 'must-have' second edition of their groundbreaking work on school safety. The book covers a wide range of core topics and addresses critical issues facing the field. It has a particular emphasis on planning, screening, and practical solutions for supporting youth and preventing violence. This volume highlights up-to-date research and provides solid guidance and important recommendations for school-based practitioners and researchers."--Catherine P. Bradshaw, PhD, MEd, University Professor and Senior Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, School of Education and Human Development, University of Virginia "The second edition of this highly relevant, practical, and accessible resource is a wonderful gift to those committed to supporting students academic, behavioral, and socialemotional well-being in an integrated fashion. Sprague and Walker provide an ideal balance of step-by-step instructions and 'big-picture' perspectives. I look forward to using this book with our school and district partners who are designing, implementing, and evaluating Comprehensive, Integrated, Three-Tiered (Ci3T) models of prevention. I also look forward to using this book in university courses supporting evidence-based practices for students with or at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders."--Kathleen Lynne Lane, PhD, BCBA-D, Roy A. Roberts Distinguished Professor of Special Education and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research, University of Kansas "This timely second edition shares best practices for creating safe and healthy school climates for all students, including those at risk for serious behavioral, emotional, and learning challenges down the road. The authors provide a framework for integrating various prevention approaches, including PBIS, restorative practices, social and emotional learning, and trauma-informed care. I can think of few in the field of education who have contributed more to creating safe and healthy school climates than Sprague and Walker."--Mark Katz, PhD, Director, Learning Development Services, San Diego, California-
