In clinical practice, orthodontic treatment of adults may be different from that of most adolescents. Compared with adolescents, adults are more likely to have dentition that have undergone some degree of mutilation over a period of time. In addition to the malaligned teeth and jaws, adult orthodontic patients may have other problems that demand some alteration in treatment strategy.
