Nachstehende Arbeit behandelt den das Berg- und Hüttenwesen betreffenden Theil der Wirtschaftsgeschichte Schlesiens in der Zeit seiner selbstständigen Provinzialverwaltung. Es ist zugleich die Zeit, in der Schlesien unter dem Zeichen des Mercantilsystems stand und zugleich ein abgeschlossenes Zoll- und Handelsgebiet bildete, die Zeit, in der das Schlesische Montan- und Hüttenwesen zu neuem Leben erweckt wurde und erstarkte. An seiner Wiege stand Heinitz, vielleicht der genialste Staatswirth des Mercantilismus im 18. Jahrhundert, einsichtig, maßvoll, für die Wohlfahrt des Volkes warm empfindend, neben ihm Reden, der mit Sachkenntniß und Energie unter seiner Oberleitung das Schlesische Berg- und Hüttenwesen emporbrachte. In Betreff seiner Darstellung bemerkt der Verfasser, daß er im ersten Theil die Frage: »Was haben die Souveräne und die Behörden gethan, um Bergbau und Hüttenwesen zu fördern?«, im zweiten: »Was ist der Erfolg davon gewesen, und was hat die Privatindustrie aus sich selbst geleistet?« zu beantworten sucht;
The following work addresses the part of Silesiäs economic history concerning mining and metallurgy during its period of independent provincial administration. It was also a time when Silesia operated under the Mercantilist system and formed a self-contained customs and trade area. This period saw the revitalization and strengthening of Silesian mining and metallurgical industries. At its inception was Heinitz, perhaps the most brilliant state economist of Mercantilism in the 18th century, who was insightful, prudent, and deeply committed to the welfare of the people. Alongside him was Reden, who, under his leadership and with expertise and energy, advanced Silesian mining and metallurgy. Regarding its portrayal, the author notes that in the first part, he addresses the question: ¿What have the sovereigns and the authorities done to promote mining and metallurgy?¿, and in the second: ¿What has been the outcome of these efforts, and what has the private industry achieved on its own?¿
