Informationen zum Autor Dr. Uta Landy is a global leader and innovator in reproductive health education and has been the recipient of every major professional recognition in family planning. She led the National Abortion Federation, the first professional organization of independent outpatient abortion clinics, where she established a continuing education program and standards of abortion care. She founded two national medical education initiatives, the Ryan Residency Training Program and the Fellowship in Family Planning, which have transformed graduate and post-graduate education and led to family planning training programs at more than 100 medical schools. Dr. Philip D. Darney is Distinguished Research Professor, Emeritus, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences, UCSF, and Director Emeritus and Senior Scholar, UCSF's Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. Under his direction, the Bixby Center has conducted investigations of contraception and abortion for the California and Federal governments, foundations, and pharma, and trained gynecologists from all over the world in family planning research. Over the past 50 years, Dr. Darney has served as scientific advisor and field evaluator to the US Agency for International Development, the Centers for Disease Control, and many NGOs. He has served as a visiting professor and consultant to universities and governments around the world. He has received awards for his contributions to medical research and education from ACOG, PPFA, and APHA, among others, and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Jody Steinauer is the Director of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health, founded by Dr. Darney, and Director of the Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program in Family Planning and Abortion, founded by Dr. Landy. She holds the Philip D. Darney Professorship in Family Planning and Reproductive Health in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at UCSF. Her academic and research focus is in medical education. She teaches strategies to improve clinical learners' self-awareness, empathy, and professionalism in order to provide patient-centered family planning and reproductive health care.
