About the author

Karen Waite is the founder and director of Leap Like A Salmon Ltd, a people development business that specialises in online continuing professional development. Her passion for technology enabled learning and vision to inspire a step change in the capture and management of CPD has led her to challenge perspectives and champion change, to
encourage self-awareness, reflection and engagement. She has considerable enthusiasm, experience and skills in management and professional development and has designed and implemented programmes for all types of
businesses at various levels of management. She has worked with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in many roles and currently is Lead External Quality Adviser (LEQA). Also enjoys giving back in voluntary roles within local business and schools. She is located in Yorkshire in the UK.Kathy Beevers, Chartered FCIPD, is a qualified trainer, coach and author. She runs a learning and
qualifications consultancy, Lightbulb Learning Ltd, where she works with individuals and organisations
to develop skills and knowledge, as well as design ways of capturing and accrediting learning. She is
also the Chief External Quality Advisor (CEQA) for CIPD.Nicky Small is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Solihull College and University Centre. She teaches on Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and degree programmes and is programme leader for CIPD courses. In addition, she has held a number of positions with CIPD, including Lead EQA. Nicky has held a variety of HR and managerial positions in the retail and telecommunications organisations and is a Chartered Fellow
of the CIPD.Keith Tomlinson, BA (Hons), MA, PhD. Cert Ed, MCIPD is a HRM and Management Consultant based in West Lancashire. He has extensive experience of working in the further and higher educational sector as a Curriculum Manager where he led on the design and delivery of degrees and professional standards in management and HRM.
His research interests include conflict management, engagement, work-based evidence and hybrid working practices. Keith is also a lead moderator for the CIPD and IQA on their level 3 & 5 apprenticeships.Shazad Hussain has worked in Senior HR Generalist roles since 2003 in several sectors which include Education, Local Government, Defence, Science and Nuclear, Retail, Transport and Justice. Shazad currently works closely with executive leadership teams within the justice sector driving technical and strategic aspects of HR and other projects. Shazad has also worked closely with the CIPD since 2002, most recently as an External Quality Advisor (EQA).
An accomplished 30-year career of increasing industry responsibilities in the management of large-scale project initiatives and organisational change, with an area of expertise in service-based environments. Extensive experience of working and managing change in a highly unionised environments
Strong management and team leadership skills, demonstrated by consistently establishing and supervising motivated teams toward successful implementation service-based environments.
His current role as Senior HR Lead involves working closely with the executive leadership teams within Justice and Immigration on employee recruitment, retention and development and organisation workforce management. This has included strategies on business performance management, pay and reward, employee relations agenda and HR operational services. Strong coaching and development of senior leaders and HR Business Partners to deliver the HR strategy and key business priorities.
Shazad is married and has 4 boys in full time education aged 20,17,17,10
Shazad enjoys the gym, golf, cycling and movies.
