After the death of her husband in a tragic bicycle accident, Susan had to leave her home of 34 years and move to an apartment in Madison. This helped make it easier for her 2 loving kids and their spouses to help take care of her daily needs. (The many chores and caretaking that her husband so lovingly did for her as a woman with pretty severe disabilities.)
Susan is finishing the last of 3 books in the Up in the sky series for her editor Linda and her husband Bobo, while learning to adjust to a new life. There is a treasured book about a wee dog in Ireland that is soon to be published, and more collaboration with her daughter in the works. Exciting times in the making! We hope in bringing a gentle nudge to children throughout the world in living a life that is full of kindness, understanding, and having unlimited dreams for the future no matter who they are.

I have been drawing for 30 years and illustrating and writing children's books for ten years. The Library of Congress is the largest in the world, with millions of books. As a child, at age 6, I vowed to write and illustrate books for this magical place one day. I bring stories to children through warmth and humor in my illustrations and stories. As a mother and grandma, I encourage all future authors, artists, and illustrators.
