Edwin Cole Bearss is America's premier battlefield historian and the historian emeritus of the National Park Service. Since retiring in 1995, Bearss leads historical tours 275 days per year. The author of 13 books, he has also served as a consultant on numerous documentaries and films, including Ken Burns's "The Civil War." Ed Bearss lives in Arlington, Virginia.
