Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an American author best known for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its subsequent series of books. Born in Chittenango, New York, Baum explored various careers in theater, retail, and journalism before achieving success as a writer. His breakthrough came in 1900 with the publication of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a book that became one of the most iconic works of American children's literature. The novel introduced the magical land of Oz and characters such as Dorothy, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow, establishing Baum as a key figure in fantasy literature.Baum was a prolific writer, producing over 50 books across different genres, but the Oz series, consisting of 14 novels, remains his most influential work.
