Kevin was born and raised in Upstate New York. Shortly after turning seventeen, he dropped out of high school and enlisted in the Marines. Kevin served in Vietnam as a radar operator, direct air support controller, infantry rifleman, and battalion intelligence (S-2) scout. Four years after his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps he enlisted in the Arizona Air National Guard, eventually retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
