Additional text

Sustainable Communities and Urban Housing persuaded me about the need for a three-pronged approach toward community sustainability, but the book demonstrated how hard it will be to achieve comprehensiveness. Many policy-makers will be tempted to focus exclusively on environmental issues, i.e. energy efficiency, but accepting an invitation toward a one-pronged strategy would be disastrous.David P. Varady, University of Cincinnati, International Journal of Housing Policy"The book is a good introduction to current issues in European housing and neighbourhood policy, and could serve as a text in a range of comparative courses. The chapters are beautifully edited and the standard of writing high—clear, jargon-free and readable. Some chapters include helpful black-and-white images to illustrate points about design, urban morphology, building main-tenance, etc."Kath Scanlon, London School ofEconomics
