In The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902), the third Sherlock Holmes novel, a death on an English moor opens suspicions of the inhabitants of the Baskerville manor and the nearby villagers. Arguably Arthur Conan Doyle’s best-loved book, with its cunning plots and evocative gothic backdrop, this is one of literature’s most popular whodunits.
