Konflikte kennzeichnen das System der abhängigen Arbeit im Kapitalismus und werden regelmäßig in Form konkreter Streitigkeiten sichtbar. Gerichte und andere Institutionen der Arbeitskonfliktlösung versuchen, sie zu schlichten und zu kontrollieren. Durch diese erfolgt eine Arbeit am Konflikt - in einem Aushandlungsprozess zwischen Arbeitnehmern und Arbeitgebern sowie den Konfliktbearbeitern der Institutionen. Die Studie nimmt die institutionelle wie die außer-institutionelle Arbeitskonfliktlösung im Deutschen Kaiserreich zwischen 1890 und 1918 in den Blick. Sie zeigt anhand von Prozessakten und anderen Quellen, zum Beispiel von Gewerbegerichten und Rechtsauskunftsstellen etwa aus Worms oder Bad Aibling, wie die Konfliktlösung dieser Institutionen samt ihren Akteuren funktionierte und welche Bedeutung Arbeitskonflikten und ihrer Bearbeitung im Kaiserreich zukam.Conflicts characterize the system of dependent labor under capitalism and regularly become visible in the form of tangible issues subject to dispute. Courts and other institutions of labor conflict resolution attempt to mediate and control them, performing work on the conflict in a process of negotiation between workers, employers and the institution´s mediating agents. This study takes a close look at both institutional and extra-institutional labor conflict resolution in the German Empire between 1890 and 1918. On the basis of court records and other sources, for example from industrial tribunals and legal information offices in Worms and Bad Aibling, it shows how conflict resolution in these institutions and their actors functioned and what significance was attached to labor disputes and their handling in the empire.
