About the author










Kathleen J. Fitzgerald is Teaching Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Her research focuses on classroom pedagogy, particularly the teaching of controversial subjects such as race/ethnicity, sexuality, and gender. She has taught courses on race/ethnicity for 28 years, and is the author of a comprehensive survey text (Recognizing Race and Ethnicity, Second Edition, Westview Press). She is also co-author (with Kandice L. Grossman) of the SAGE text, The Sociology of Sexualities, which is about to go into a second edition.
