This study investigates from a philosophical perspective the ethical implications of animal experimentation, analyzing the experimentation from the different currents of bioethics to place it in the current context of the movements for the defense of the rights of non-human animals. It also investigates the practices and processes of animal experimentation that are carried out in laboratories. It reviews the legal framework related to animal experimentation, presents alternatives to vivisection and highlights the role of education in disseminating these new bioethical perspectives.
