This study is aimed at investigating how fostering entrepreneurship in renewable energy generation can enable sub-Saharan African countries to close the electricity gap. The investigation relies on insights gained using Q methodology. A Q methodology research design was used. Q methodology is seen as mixed method research since it leverages both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. Semi-structured interviews based on a thematic interview guide were carried out with 15experts with extensive knowledge of setting up independent power producers (IPPs), regulating utilities and financing infrastructure projects. A qualitative content analysis was then performed, which resulted in a concourse of 36 statements summarising all discourses and viewpoints.
