Implementations of IS/IT strategies are aimed at contributing to overall business strategies of organisations. However, some organisations are not benefiting from the implementations facing these efforts. This dissertation intended to assess the effectiveness of the IS/IT strategic choice by Local Government Authorities in regard to implementation of Integrated Financial Management Information System. The research was approached qualitatively and a case study strategy was employed taking Arusha Municipal Council as a case. Various literature were consulted to get the theoretical and empirical thoughts of various authors about the topic under study to help the researcher craft and refine methodology. A lot of barriers that were found in this study are impeding successful implementation of the IS/IT strategic choice to accomplish intended purposes. Recommendations were given on how to ensure the success of IS/IT strategy implementations.
