This book has presented a theoretical discussion of and a series of experimental investigations into the spectroscopic measurement of methane concentrations. The methane Q(6) transition of the 2v3 overtone band near-infrared region was considered in this study. Wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) with second harmonic detection (2f) is a sensitive measurement technique that provides a high signal-to-noise (SNR) in comparison with the direct absorption method, and was the main method that was used in this experimental study.
