Electrocardiography (ECG) is the technique by virtue of which the electrical activity of the heart is measured and recorded over a period of time. Electrodes placed over the skin detect electrical changes arising due to the electrophysiological pattern of depolarizing and repolarizing of the heart during each heart beat. The voltage versus time graph obtained through this procedure is called an electrocardiogram. It is examined to detect any suspected myocardial infarction, perceived arrhythmia, known cardiac arrhythmias, suspected pulmonary embolism, etc. It can also be done for cardiac stress testing, and for preoperative and perioperative assessment and monitoring. This book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of clinical cardiology and the recent researches in this field. The various advancements in electrocardiography are glanced at and their applications as well as ramifications are looked at in detail. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge.
