What makes Nova Scotia home? Why do we sing about her sea-bound coast when we're far off, or move to the province 'from away'? What draws us and keeps us? And do all who live here feel at home?

Sculptor and writer Jan Fancy Hull talked with born-heres and moved-heres from Yarmouth to Glace Bay to find out what brings them here...or pushes them away. Responses to an online survey share the voices of many more people who find Nova Scotia a very special place.

Come take the road home.

About the author

Jan Fancy Hull lives in a log chalet beside a quiet lake in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, where she has written poetry, fiction, and her debut non-fiction book, Where's Home?
Prior to arriving at this idyllic position, she served in various careers, enterprises, pursuits, and avocations, including, but not limited to, arts administrator, radio broadcaster, sailing tours skipper, and employee benefits broker.
In the warm months, Jan creates sculptures from Nova Scotian sandstone, which she exhibits in various galleries and shows. She is currently active in the Lunenburg Art Society. She also enjoys golfing and drifting around the lake in a tiny rowboat, but doesn't do enough of either. There are so many things to do.
