About the author










Bin Bai is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Vocational and Adult Education, Beijing Normal University, and a guest researcher at Hannover University. His main research fields focus on workplace learning, vocational continuing education, E-Learning, adult learning and psychology. After completing his PhD in Educational Technology at Beijing Normal University, he began his career as an ICT teacher at the middle school level. He was invited as an academic visiting scholar at the UK open university from 2008 to 2009, where he finished his doctoral thesis on quality assurance in online education. From 2014 to 2015 he served at the University of Bremen, Germany, where he mainly engaged in research on workplace learning and competence assessment. He has published research papers related to workplace learning and professional continuing education in various international journals and was invited as a keynote speaker for several international conferences.


Mr. Paryono, currently Deputy Director for Professional Affairs and a Research Manager at the Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization in Brunei Darussalam, has been working in the area of Technical and Vocational Education and Training for more than 30 years. He began his career as a teacher for Technical and Vocational Education and Training in 1985 at a Technical High School in Malang, Indonesia, and has served as an Associate Professor for Technical and Vocational Education and Training at the State University of Malang since 1987, in addition to teaching education, Indonesian and Javanese languages at several universities in the United States. In 2017 and 2018, he was a visiting professor at Beijing Normal University. Mr. Paryono holds a dual PhD degree in Workforce Education and Development and Comparative International Education from Pennsylvania State University. He has published numerous research articles related to Technical and Vocational Education and Training in various international journals and presented papers at several international conferences.
