Informationen zum Autor T. M. Helliwell taught at Harvey Mudd College for more than forty years, as well as serving in several administrative roles, including Physics Department Chair. He received two National Science Foundation fellowships, was awarded the Henry T. Mudd Prize for service to the college in 1997, and served as a consultant at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He is the author or co-author of more than forty research papers on general relativity, cosmology, and quantum theory, and the author of two textbooks on special relativity. V. V. Sahakian is Professor of Theoretical Physics at Harvey Mudd College. He has received three National Science Foundation fellowships, and authored or co-authored more than twenty-five research papers on string theory, cosmology, and quantum gravity. His research focuses on understanding the small-scale structure of space, often studying black holes and exploring new frameworks that extend the Standard Model of particle physics and standard inflationary cosmology. Klappentext Presents classical mechanics as a thriving field with strong connections to modern physics, with numerous worked examples and homework problems. Zusammenfassung By highlighting the strong connections between classical mechanics and modern physics, this distinctive textbook demonstrates the great relevance and value of advanced classical mechanics in contemporary fields of research. Numerous worked examples, problem sets, and an online solutions manual offer pedagogical support for students and instructors. Inhaltsverzeichnis Part I: 1. Newtonian particle mechanics; 2.
