Out of body experiences can be initiated by traumatic head injuries, near-death experiences, dissociative and psychedelic drugs, sensory deprivation, dehydration, sleep disorders and dreaming and electrical stimulation of the brain, among others. This can be deliberately induced by some experiences during day time. It is never dangerous to have 'out-of-body' experiences.
