The soil is one of the most natural sources of ionizing radiation radioactive nuclides, such as uranium-238 series nuclides, as well as a series of thorium-232 in addition to the isotope potassium-40 which exists a lot in the soil - one way or another affecting human health. Therefore the study tackled radioactivity in the soil of Hilla city region in the Babylon governorate to determine the effect of radiation resulting from this soil on human health. 200 samples have been chosen in general, they were collected from each site, the first from surface soil in depth of 0-5 cm and the second depth 5-30 cm.
