A story of recovery and reconciliation. Michael Jeffries, now living in a small Midlands town, was injured in an ambush as a young officer in Cyprus during the EOKA Troubles of the late 1950s. The shock of that event proves to have been delayed, preventing him returning to a normal life.

Eventually, by relating his story to a strange acquaintance, Michael manages to move onto a path of recovery and achieve reconciliation with the people and events of his past.
