The selections for this book were chosen from among my guest columns for the Sarasota/Manatee (Florida) Jewish News. Readers wrote to encourage me to collect these stories so that families, residents and staff in the nearly 200 Jewish care facilities in North America could share what biblical Job would term the humble wisdom of the ages. This book is a tribute and a thank you to all of the elderly men and women who shared the wisdom of their life experiences with me in my ten years as their resident rabbi. Thanks to each resident whom I had the honor of knowing, I am a more modest, compassionate and humble rabbi than I could have ever hoped to be.
