This book represents a combination of Judaica and self-help, and reflects the growing area of spiritually integrated psychotherapy. Empirical evidence has developed showing this approach is effective in treating cancer patients and those suffering from PTSD. This book contains selected stories from Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (aka the Breslover Rebbe) that have psycho-spiritual implications for personal growth and enhancement to accompanying each story. Rebbe Nachman, great-grandson of the Baal Shem Tov, founder of the Chassidic movement, was a renowned storyteller. Unlike the majority of Chassidic stories in existence, Rebbe Nachman's stories were not about Chassidic rebbes. Instead, they were about ordinary people and even non-Jews. For each story, we provide some psychological insights and understandings that can be useful for developing a higher sense of self that is associated with heightened spirituality. There are black and white illustrations to accompany each story. The intended audience is counselors, psychotherapists, clergy, and other spiritual teachers who use stories in teaching, congregant counseling, and sermons and anybody who loves Rebbe Nachman's stories.
